The different oregano come to us from the Mediterranean basin and Morocco. These essential oils are predominantly phenols, mostly carvacrol. Thymol is also present. It is one of the most phenolic essential oils that can be found, carvacrol and thymol representing some 60% of its biochemical composition. This shows its potential on infectious states. Lemon essence, with a few nuances. But these nuances involve very different actions and aromas.
Precautions for use
Do not use during pregnancy or breastfeeding, or in young children.
Never use pure on the skin, carvacrol being irritating (dermocaustic).
Dilute in this case in vegetable oil or oily macerate, St. John's wort or calendula.
Internally, medium or long-term use requires protecting the liver, for example by simultaneously taking rosemary essential oil with verbenone, lemon essence, or rosemary hydrosol with verbenone.
Hypertensive: may cause insomnia in sensitive people if used in the evening.
Avoid contact with eyes.
Keep out of reach of children.
